What instrument can my child play in the band?
We offer a full concert band experience! Instrument options include Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Saxophones, Bassoon, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba, and both non-pitched and pitched percussion instruments.
How much is registration, and what are the payment options?
We offer flexible payment choices: a Full Year Discount of $500, Fall Semester Only for $250, or Spring Semester Only for $350. Every kid who wants to play in a concert band belongs here. If cost is a concern, please send us a quick note about payment plans so we can help.

As we get ready for our first season, we're still waiting on a few final pieces to fall into place—including confirmation of our official start date. Because our Fall semester may be a little shorter than originally planned, registration fees are likely to be reduced from the prices listed above.
Once our rehearsal dates are confirmed, we'll calculate and share the final registration fees with all registered families. Whatever happens, fees will not exceed $250 for the Fall semester, $350 for the Spring semester, or $500 for the full year.
We will not collect any registration fees until the schedule and final price have been confirmed.
And our commitment to making EYB accessible hasn't changed. If cost is a barrier for your family, please reach out. We're happy to talk about payment plans and work with families wherever we can.

What does the registration fee cover?
Your registration fee covers rental costs for rehearsal venues, all sheet music and educational resources, and professional conductors and guest instrument clinicians. The Spring Semester registration fee also includes an addition performance/clinic at a local music festival.
How do instrument rentals work?
Families are responsible for providing a good quality band instrument to every rehearsal. Options include using an instrument from your child's school program, bringing a personally owned instrument, or renting from our partner, The Bandstand. Percussion instruments will be supplied during rehearsals, but please bring your own sticks and mallets.
What is the attendance policy?
Because music-making is a team effort, regular rehearsal attendance is essential. Each semester builds toward a showcase performance. Excessive absences impact the ensemble and may result in reduced participation in final performances.
Will there be performances?
Concerts are an essential part of the ensemble experience. Students will present a performance in December, participate in a local music festival in the spring, and finish with our year-end concert. Every musician registered in an ensemble receives two complimentary tickets to both the December and May performances.
What about my School's Band Program?
Think of EYB as an addition to school band, rather than a substitute. Whenever possible, students are encouraged to participate in their school’s music program alongside EYB. That said, we know every student’s situation is unique—whether your school doesn't have a band program or school band simply isn't the right fit for you right now, EYB is here to give you a place to play.
How are students placed between Intermediate and Advanced Band, and what if the level turns out to be too hard or too easy?
Placement is a collaborative decision based on musical fit, personal growth goals, and family schedules—no auditions required. We weigh the benefits of each ensemble (e.g., leadership opportunities in Intermediate vs. a higher musical challenge in Advanced) alongside practical factors like weeknight availability. If a student’s needs or schedule change, we can always evaluate moving them to a different ensemble for the following semester.
